What support is available if I study part- time or by distance learning?

You can apply for a part-time grant of up to £500 a year if you are 16 or over, you earn £22,000 or less a year and you are studying 40 Scottish Qualifications Framework (SCQF) credits in a year.

This part-time fee grant is paid direct to your institution to help towards the cost of your tuition fees.

The Scottish Government have provided additional funds for part-time students to the college and university Discretionary Funds.

You can also apply for the non income-assessed Disabled Students' Allowance.

How do I apply for the part-time fee grant?

Courses starting before 1 August 2012

From 1 April 2012, you can download an application form from the part-time section section of the SAAS website.

If you are looking to apply now, then application forms and further information are available from the ILA Scotland helpline on 0808 100 1090 or by visiting  www.ilascotland.org.uk.

Courses starting on or after 1 August 2012

From 1 June 2012, you can download an application form from this section of the SAAS website.  We will no longer be issuing paper forms and all applications must be made by downloading a form from the part-time section of our website.  Further information is available from SAAS on 0300 300 3137.
